Going to attempt it! Want to get the holidays out of the way before I start getting into any hobbies (like horseback riding!!! or singing!!!)Whaaaaat that is so badass! And you totally should take lessons again!
Yeah, the Boston accent is mangle a bunch. And it isn't really that hard to dupe so...Do TV and movies screw up everyone's accent like they do to New Orleans accents? It drive us crazy. New Orleans accent is VERY different from the Cajun accent that is usually portrayed on TV. That's more of a rural thing (and usually still portrayed pretty poorly).
I assume they get accents like New York and Boston more correct, but I don't know because I"m not from there.
Nope. All NY accents on tv are usually really heavy Bronx accents (hey youse guys) which literally nobody has nowadays, unless they're a 60+ year old Italian who is still living in the Bronx/never left.Do TV and movies screw up everyone's accent like they do to New Orleans accents? just an fyi, nobody says y'all in NY except as a joke. People here in Indy say it for real and I have to hide my child-like glee/wonder every time they say it as a normal part of the conversation.I'm from Colorado. I pretty much have a prototypical, Johnny Carson-esque American accent.
Though my mom is from Texas, so I can do a pretty mean Texas accent... and I say y'all fairly often.
I super wish I had my dad's accent. It's sort of British-English (he's from former British Hong Kong) mixed with erudite Chinese professor enunciation with LOTS of Chinese-English code switching when talking to us/family. LadySquare is Caucasian so she is typically *very* confused so I have to interpret. I was born here so I sound...like nothing at all.Nope. Yall is a word in the south. Pisses me off when my phone or Outlook spell check tries to correct it.just an fyi, nobody says y'all in NY except as a joke. People here in Indy say it for real and I have to hide my child-like glee/wonder every time they say it as a normal part of the conversation.
The original bill was for all elections. But your SC said it violated the state constitution for state offices.that was a dilemna. And this last go around I don't think it applied to the governor's spot. It was for one of the districts and the incumbent threw a hissy fit
I've heard that the real New Orleans accent is actually very similar to the real Brooklyn accent, but slower and more "laid back".Nope. Hollywood almost always screws up the Philly accent. They just lazily use the New York accent instead because they know that most of the audience won't know the difference. For instance, Rocky has a new york accent. It annoys the **** outta me. What's worse, is even when they have Philly-area actors play someone from Philly, they have them use a NYC accent.Do TV and movies screw up everyone's accent like they do to New Orleans accents? Does Rocky have a NY accent? I always assume that Sylvester Stallone simply has a Sylvester Stallone accent; a completely unique way of speaking.Hollywood almost always screws up the Philly accent. Most M Night Shyamalan movies get it right though, for obvious reasons; and Toni Collette nailed it in "in her shoes".
yeah, he has a distinctive voice. IIRC he briefly went to high school in Philly, but by that point his accent would have already been established a few years prior with little opportunity for change. He tries to add something extra to Rocky. It's much closer to one of the NYC boroughs than anything you would hear in Philly. Anything Philly he says would have overlap with the Bronx; and he has none of the non-salient aspects.Does Rocky have a NY accent?
