How do you put forth such "training"?
I also found a new trick. If one puts tin foil around the base of the Xmas tree, a cat will encounter and usually back away because it's like nails on a chalkboard to them apparently. It may not look pretty for awhile, but I'm told it works like a charm.

Consistency and dedication.
You don't have to tell me! I keep telling my fiancé that he only met the old kitty after I had already had him for two years, so he was pretty well trained by then.

This kitty is only about 11 months, and we've only had him for four.

Like, underneath the branches? Or just on the ground underneath the tree?

Ha! Ours isn't even 6 months yet! What a little hellion! :eek:ldman:
We got ours when he was about 6 months. I'm now a big proponent for getting cats either full grown, or at three months when they haven't had lots of potentially bad habits instilled in themselves!

But he has chilled out, minorly. He's improved being held and starts to follow commands. But he's way smarter than any other cat I've ever had! He's turned the spray bottle into a game!

LOL.

Replace the contents of the spray bottle apple bitters.

Haha maybe I will!

He also still likes to attack and will do this weird thing where you can just be standing there, and he will walk by and swat at you with both of his paws (no claws, thankfully) and quickly bite your calf.

I have no idea why he does this. I will be doing something completely different (i.e. not anything having to do with him, like cooking dinner), and he will do this! While it doesn't break the skin, it hurts! I think he's kind of bullying us into paying attention to him.

Is having two trees a must now?  My wife insisted we get two.
Absolutely not. But i like one that's all pretty and styled. The second one is smaller and has our keepsake type ornaments on it. There aren't enough of them to fill a fill size tree at this point.

Who's finished their holiday shopping? I have 2 things left to buy. Have a busy weekend of wrapping ahead.

So engineers are logical thinkers. We like to think of cause & effect relationships. However, IMO, for this particular instance, there is no particular cause that you looking for. A kitten is like a small child. They just want to play. And that's his/her way of playing. Even if it's somewhat painful for the victim. LOL

Ours has claws, but if you start with them young enough, they will let you trim there nails. That's what we do with our older tabby. I've never seen such black magic when we had cats growing up. But I tell you it works. He actually loves seeing the clippers now and will come and sit for the deed to be done. Because afterwards he knows he gets a special treat. The kitten, is starting to "get it", but not quite there yet. He will with time though.

Who's finished started their holiday shopping?
