Absolutely!  I was always jealous that my brother got legos and I got dolls (although I did like the dolls).  Both of us ended up in the construction industry!  Me Civil, him in Construction Management.  I thank Legos.

I always laid out floorplans for my barbies' houses - telltale sign!

what's a "pretend" purse? (for 5yo girl) is it just a real purse she can play with? 

She would probably like that.  (A real purse)  my 8 year old has a love of all things bags.  She puts things in her bag and brings them along when we go places.    I used to worry she will become a bag lady.  Now I just worry she will get expensive taste.  Anyway, I think a little fun purse?  All of the "pretend" purses seem to target pretty young.
