Hello all,

I have an interesting problem that I hope someone could offer some insight on. I have been a registered professional engineer in Florida for 10 years now. When I graduated with my Ph.D., the statutes waived the FE requirement for those with a Ph.D. Thus, I was allowed to take the PE test without having taken the FE exam. Presently, I am trying to become registered in other states. Many require the FE exam regardless of my present registration or Ph.D. The question I have is what would happen to my current registration if I took the FE exam and did not pass it (for some reason, it has been almost 20 years since I took some of the courses)? I do not want to jeopardize my current license just to become eligible for registration in other states.

Any thoughts, insights, or suggestions as to where to look for help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

i think a call to ncees or your local board would answer your question better than anyone here can.

If Florida wavied the FE then I would think it doesn't matter what happens if you take the FE. Worst case, take the FE in the state you desire the license in.

Good luck.
