Hi,

I´m about to finnish my degree within architecture and civil engineering and I´m about to move the states! My problem is that the school is not on ABETs list (very few in Europe are). So how do I go about to become an P.E as soon as possible?! I´d love to move and start getting experience in the states ASAP and obviously want to escape the dark and coldness here so want to settle with my american wife in the southern USA .

If anyone have walked this path before, help would be soo much appreciated.

I have not reviewed the threads above, however go to NCEES.org and review what it takes to become a PE in the United States. This will get you down the road-- perhaps the threads above tell you the same thing.

The simple answer is that you will need to get your degree evaluated by NCEES-- ascertain if there are any deficiencies, with foreign degrees there are sometimes deficiencies. If they identify any deficiencies, get those fixed (usually more course work), then apply for the FE examination. Once you pass the FE examination, it will take at least 4 years, maybe more before you can sit for the PE examination.

Don't think that if you have any deficiencies you can find a way around them. Get them fixed and then press on. Many folks here spend a lot of time trying to scheme the system-- it is not worth the time-- do as you are told and it will work out fine. There are some hoops to jump through-- I know, pain in the ass, however, that is how it works. Get on it, you will be a PE before you know it.

Good Luck.
