I realize that the problem statement says that full concrete bearing is used, but just wanted to remind everyone that there are obvious issues that will slow an examinee down if they don't read the problem carefully. I spent extra time reading the problem statement a couple of times just realizing that they want us to only check for the steel governing base plate thickness. In practice, one would check both the concrete bearing and the steel.

I'm sure most of you caught this (for those studying), but just wanted to share.

 
That's a good point. One thing that has helped me in problems like that is seeing what code the problem references. Typically that will lead you in the right direction.
