Hi folks,

I need some help on question #103 in 2008 NCEES sample example.

I understand that (D) is correct. But why (A) and (B) are not correct.

Please let me know where I got wrong.

--------------------

LSd=LFb

LSb=LFb-Db

TFb=LSb-ESb

so (A) is correct

---------------------

EFa=ESb

TFb=LSb-ESb

so (B) is correct

----------------------

Answer A states LSd-ESb-Db

Answer D states LFb-ESb-Db

LS=LF-D, but LF=LS+D

EF=ES+D

The question is asking for the definition of TF for the activity

TF=LF-EF or LS-ES, using substitution you end up with

TF=LF-(ES+D) which simplifies to LF-ES-D (answer D)

If you were trying to use answer A, you would be wrong with the subtraction of the D component (TF=LS-ES)

I hope that this helps

I do not like this particular problem at all!!

I agree that Answer is D; this is pretty obvious.

But can Choice B be also correct?!

I'm pretty sure B is also correct.

I'm pretty sure B is also correct.
LS_B IS EQUAL TO LF_A (since it's the only predecessor)

Therefore, LS_B - EF_A = LF_A - EF_A = total float of activity A, not activity B as the questions asks
