I don't understand your question very well. But,  I did this problem as well and it took a long time to half-understand it. The conversion from Delta to Wye and back to Delta is a long process.

In my opinion this is not a 6 minute problem. Too many calculations.

Look on page 14-15 I think because its delta if you multiply line current by the sqrt (3) you get phase current. I look at it by the subscripts and diagram shown on 14. So if I am given IAB and I need Ia I would multiply by sqrt of 3. In this problem I would get IaA. I went straight to KVL to solve this as the conversions made no sense to me.
