Brea, CA: 2 years

BASIC QUALIFICATION:

• Undergraduate degree from an accredited university or college, preferably with a major in Business Administration, Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent technical/financial discipline.

• General knowledge in Cost Engineering (i.e. Cost, Schedule, and Change Management), Construction Management or Project Management usually obtained through extensive training or work experience.

• Typically possesses three or more years' experience performing related cost engineering functions requiring specialized training and education. Demonstrated experience with similar project types, sizes and complexity to project(s)

• Construction management / construction background

Preferences:

 Utility experience, specific to Transmission construction / expansion with substations

 Certified Cost Technician (CCT) Certification or any AACE/Project Management Certification. Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Solutions (ERP) Application (i.e. SAP and Project System & Cost).

Computer Requirements:

 Experience with Project Controls applications (i.e. Project, Primavera and Contract Manager).

 Microsoft applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio)

 Must be knowledgeable in Lotus products for spreadsheets and word processing

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform routine research, monthly updates, data gathering and analysis in (i.e. cost, schedule and change management) under direct supervision of senior/lead project controls engineer or manager. Provide timely status for clients on engineering deliverables, material delivery and key construction activities.

• Assist and/or support the development and update of the project budgets or schedule via cost management or scheduling software. Assist and/or prepare cost and schedule reports and other analytics in response to corporate requests for capital program and project information.

• Measure performance by comparing the in-service date against the Operation Date reflected in the most current approved work order or milestone in the current project baseline schedule. Identify cost or schedule variances to approved budget or baseline schedule by virtue of the Trend/Change Management Process

• Establish and maintain effective dialogue with clients and project team members and management to support, monitor and forecast schedule and budget performance. Ensure understanding of drivers of cost and schedule performance through regular interface and/or meetings with project team members as appropriate.

• Assist in the preparation of cost, schedule, and performance data for use in the project routine/ad-hoc reporting, Long Term Planning, Corporate Goals, annual budgeting, and General Rate Cases; utilizing scheduling and cost tracking software; and performing other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

• May require some travel on a regular basis to various project locations.

• Must demonstrate strong ethics, influence, negotiation, interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.
