NCEES 2008 solutions for #515 and #516 gives conversion of psig to ft as (psi)*(2.31ft/psi).Can anyone please help explain where this came from?
Thanks.
Thanks for the reply.I was confused why they hadn't converted psig to psia and then realized the Patm terms will cancel out.
I guess I'm delirious now trying to finish the exam in 16 hours!

Hi Ronin,
One cubic foot of water = 62.4 lbm
One Square foot of area = 144 in^2
So, 62.4 / 144 = 0.433 psi
and, going the other way, 1 / 0.433 = 2.31 feet of head
(144 / 62.4 = 2.31)
Hope this helps.
