Job Description
Harsco Metals & Minerals (Part of Harsco Corporation) are looking to recruit a Technology Development Engineer for their office in Leatherhead, UK and to further strengthen the Technology Development Team. The role will be responsible for the development of new and existing technologies across the business. The role will manage the development of new and existing technology, from initial idea concept and assessment of commercial viability, to pilot development and final full commercial execution, such that the solutions developed ensure best in class financial returns and ROIC for Harsco.
- Development of new technology projects from initial idea concept and assessment of commercial viability, to pilot development and final full commercial execution
Development and execution of technology relationships with new and existing customers
Development of technology solutions to customer challenges through direct customer facing communication
Optimization of existing technologies through improved process technology design and application
Support the creation of commercial proposals with standardized world class engineering designs for new and existing technology
Help to establish and promote Harsco as the leading practitioner in the field of technology based mill services and applied products solutions via networking, presentations and PR
Help coach regional personnel to enhance skill levels to apply, sell and develop technological processes
Responsible for development of accurate capital and operating cost financial models across the technology function for use in all commercial proposals and assessments
The Successful Applicant
To be considered for this demanding, exciting and challenging Technology Development Engineer role, you will be competent with the following requirements.
- Strong knowledge of materials or metallurgy within an engineering capacity.
Essential to have knowledge of metals manufacturing processes from beginning to final product
Ability to speak to customer on equal technical and commercial terms
Continuous improvement tools
Rational, logical thinker with the ability to analyze and make fact based decisions
Imaginative and innovative in formulating projects, conceiving and exploiting new products/processes/services and resolving problems
The ability to understand and evaluate large complex issues/data and develop practical commercially based solutions
Ability to keep abreast of, interpret and evaluate technological advances for applicability to the metals industry and the interpretation into commercial proposals and reality
Commercial skills
Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project Etc.)
Strong Mathematical knowledge
Ability to effectively plan and organize
A willingness for extensive global travel, often for lengthy periods
Entrepreneurial mindset
Valid drivers licence is essential
