Building code requirements book for construction depth

Hello i will buy the

ACI 318-08 Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete and Commentary

but when i checked amazon, i saw a 2009 version. on NCEES reference books list given at the last page of construction depth exam specs, they show 2008 version. first of all if there is a 2009 version why do they show 2008 version?

also 2009 versin on amazon seems to be cheaper than 2008 versin. why might that be? what am i missing here?

bottom line, what should i buy?

There is no 2009 version for the ACI 318. The ACI 318-08 (IBC 2009 reference) and 318-11 (IBC 2012 reference) are the two current standards on the market. I would get the one referenced by NCEES (318-08).

There is a 6 volume ACI Manual of Concrete Construction dated 2009 that contains the 318-08 and several other code references, but you will be fine with just the 318-08 code book as referenced by NCEES. You do not need the full Manual set.

ok thanks... on amazon i saw two versions, which doesnt seem different except the color of cover so it makes me wonder if they are different. which one is the correct one and why ?

They both have the same cover, it's just the lighting of the picture that makes the color look different. Both state 318-08; but are listing different ISBN numbers.

The copy at my desk has ISBN Number 978-0-87031-264-9 which matches the first link you posted. The lower price is to rent the book and not buy it, so that seems to be the major difference between the two links you posted.
