[SIZE=10pt]As a Type 45 COM Availability Engineer, you will be solely responsible as the single point of contact for the support, coordination and progress reporting for operational defects submitted by a single Type 45 Destroyer. This role reports into to an Availability Manager and Ship Manager who control the shore based maintenance support to the immediate and long term programme. As a key member of the COM team the role is pivotal in ensuring the availability of a Type 45 to meet their operational programme.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10pt]Your main responsibilities as a T45 COM Availability Engineer:[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10pt]Expediting the rectification of priority operational defect repairs, by:[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10pt]Applying the correct level of support priority[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10pt]Reading, comprehending, and where appropriate, replying to the ship’s Marine Engineering (ME) and Weapon Engineering (WE) defect signals and associated communications[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10pt]Confirming availability of spares/ Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Engineers and as appropriate that they are in course of supply[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10pt]Coordinating the activities of all the parties involved, both internal and external, in the repair of priority defects[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10pt]Your skills and qualifications as a[/SIZE][SIZE=10pt] T45 COM Availability Engineer:[/SIZE]

  • [SIZE=10pt]HNC or equivalent experience in relevant engineering subject[/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=10pt]Incorporated Engineer[/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=10pt]Working experience in naval engineering[/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=10pt]Experience of working in the maritime support environment at a senior engineer level[/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=10pt]Ability to work under a sustained pressurised environment[/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=10pt]Good knowledge of all waterfront processes and delivery[/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=10pt]Ability to prioritise and multi-coordinate waterfront service level support resources to ensure the ship meets its availability targets[/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=10pt]Good awareness of MoD Royal Navy in service maintenance practices and those of external support providers[/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=10pt]Ability to understand the needs of the military and balance that with proportionate and rational response[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10pt]This is a full time role and will be based in Portsmouth Naval Base.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10pt]The job grade for this role is 5 and we are offering a salary starting from £38,000+.[/SIZE]
