[SIZE=12pt]Reporting into the Assistant Chief Engineer you will be responsible for the delivery of the Astute Class Ship Safety Case, on one of the most complex Engineering projects worldwide. In particular, the individual will be responsible for the creation, development and maintenance of Functional Design Safety Justification(s) on the complex interaction of systems and equipment involving liaison with system engineers, the customer and operator on safety matters.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=12pt]Supporting the upkeep and maintenance of the Astute Class hazard log[/SIZE]
[SIZE=12pt]Supporting other safety engineers and engineers in the update and delivery of Design Safety Justifications and Functional Design Safety Justifications[/SIZE]
[SIZE=12pt]Maintaining and updating as necessary the Astute Class safety document suite register[/SIZE]
[SIZE=12pt]Creating and maintaining an Astute Product Safety Process Library[/SIZE]
[SIZE=12pt]Assisting in the creation and development of Astute Product Safety processes[/SIZE]
[SIZE=12pt]Acting as secretary to the Astute Ship Safety Committee (ASSC) and other ad-hoc committees, reviews and assessments[/SIZE]
[SIZE=12pt]Liaising with internal and external customers as required, ensuring that their requirements are adequately supported and that their needs are fully considered and incorporated where appropriate, and agreed[/SIZE]
[SIZE=12pt]Representing the Astute Safety Team as required at relevant internal safety committees, meetings and forums[/SIZE]
[SIZE=12pt]Undertaking reviews, and audit as directed, the implementation of the Safety & Environmental Management Plan (SEMP) by the Astute Safety Team[/SIZE]

[SIZE=12pt]As a Senior Engineer your skills and qualifications must include:[/SIZE]
[SIZE=12pt]A Higher National Diploma (HND) / Degree in a relevant Engineering related discipline or experience of writing process in safety critical environment[/SIZE]
[SIZE=12pt]Familiarisation with at least one of the following techniques; HAZID and HAZAN techniques (HAZOP, SWIFT, FTA, ETA HEA [/SIZE]
[SIZE=12pt]Knowledge and understanding of Royal Navy submarine operation and MoD Safety Case methodology[/SIZE]
[SIZE=12pt]Knowledge and an understanding of Safety Management Systems and Safety Cases[/SIZE]
