Dimensional Control Surveyor

We currently have a vacancy for a Dimensional Control Surveyor at our site in Barrow in Furness.

As a Dimensional Control Surveyor, you will be working on the Submarine contract and you will be instrumental in the early stages of build and work closely with Engineering and Operations.

This role will give you the opportunity to work in an extremely interesting, challenging & rewarding position. The work is different from day to day and the tasks are varied and can be extremely complicated. You will be involved in many different aspects of submarine build from design & build to commissioning.

Your main responsibilities as a Dimensional Control Surveyor will involve:

Carrying out as built surveys and analysis of the product through the various stages of build using the latest 3D measuring equipment

Taking lessons learnt from Astute and feeding back into the team whilst learning both the Successor program processes and deliverables

Completing large volume metrology surveys of submarine structures

Establishment of datum’s for the whole Submarine programme

Weapons Alignment

Propulsion (Rudder and Hydroplane alignment)

Sonar Alignment (Bow and Flank array)

Modelling and pre prediction of alignment fit up

Your skills and qualifications as a Dimensional Control Surveyor will ideally include:

Surveying experience is essential

Demonstrable knowledge of Engineering

Ability to interpret drawings and/ or CAD model

Previous trades construction/ manufacturing experience

Previous metrology knowledge and experience is beneficial

Experience and proficiency with SAP tool

Experience of Spatial Analyzer software (Polyworks also considered – will be using in near future) is desirable

What we're looking for in you:

You will have the ability to understand, demonstrate and analyse 3D data, whilst developing knowledge of the role and processes to be able to carry out complex tasks unsupervised. You will be confident liaising at all levels and have the ability to challenge if required.
