Which is better, 9mm or 45acp?

Depends on what you can buy and how much weight you feel like carrying around!

Several police departments switched from the 45 to the 9 based on availability and capacities.  Weight was the same for a higher capacity.

I'll take 17 rounds of 9mm over 8 rounds of 45 any day of the week.

I'll take the 45 just because I'm in bear country and the 9 doesn't have the oomph I want.  Then again, I'm usually carrying a 50 AE when out and about in the bush.  In town, I usually have the 9 since I already own it.

9MM is cheaper.

I would use the Peanut Butter/Jelly algorithm to make the decision:  If you like peanut butter better, get the 40/45.  If you like jelly better, get the 9.
