I took the exam last Friday and I am still a bit nervous and speechless. I felt okay after the exam but then I started having doubts about how I did. Still can't believe that I have to wait 8-10 weeks for results to come in. It will be a long 2 months. The exam was not like what I was expecting. Far more qualitative questions than I was expecting or prepared for. I had enough time to work every problem but I had to make a lot of guesses on questions too. I wish everyone else (and myself) good luck on their exam.

Yeah its going to be a long wait.. I agree, lots of qualitative questions, and tricky numericals.. Good luck to all of us..

So it has been three weeks since the exam. I felt ok right after - but I have all this anxiety now. Anyone else? Its going to be a long wait...

How's the enviro crowd doing this week?
I just saw this thread but also took the 4.11 enviro test. It was pretty rough for me. I've never failed a test in my life, and I've never studied harder for a test than I did for this one....yet I still feel a bit hopeless. I was actually okay on the qualitative questions for the most part, but the afternoon section quantitative questions especially killed me. I think I had at least 10 WAGs on the afternoon.

Got my email notice yesterday afternoon. Waited until 9pm to check my results.
I passed!!! Finally done with studying. This was my FOURTH attempt.
*Married w/young children and a very busy work schedule...took advantage of a slight lull in workload in late March and early April to study some at work. I also enrolled in online weekend prep classes and this may have been the best move for me. I highly recommend structured studying for busy professionals with young children.

I passed!!! Finally done with studying. This was my FOURTH attempt.

I don't have book suggestions except 101 Solved Problems, which is very similar to one of the books you already used. It's by Schneiter. I thought that was pretty similar in types of questions and difficulty to real exam questions. It asks multi-part questions that obviously you don't get on the exam, but you might have one or two of those steps you'd have to do.
If you need a review class, particularly for water and wastewater, I thought the NC State DVDs were really helpful. You can order copies from their website or sometimes find them in the yard sale part of this site.

Check the thread pinned at the top of this forum and you can see the references suggested. Most people use the Lindeburg materials as a study guide. Then add a waste water text, a general environmental text, some hydrogeology, and some regulations. The posts in that thread are really invaluable as a study guide...

I got old copies of the NCESS practice tests from my colleagues (pre-multiple choice days), the McFarland sample tests, and probably the most helpful thing I got my hands on was a Testmasters binder from someone who took Testmaster's review course probably 8 years ago. THAT binder was probably my top reference during the test. I took the ASCE review course as well but found that pretty useless, so wouldn't suggest it.
Hello. I'm sorry about your result but as many have said, don't give up! You've taken an initiative to pass the FE, which means the PE is the ultimate goal (and maybe BCEE). I failed the October 2013 exam badly and was very hard on myself. It affected my family, friends, and coworkers for weeks as I moped, cursed, complained, and self-doubted. I read all the comments on EngineeringBoards from people who passed and failed, and truthfully, they didn't make me feel any better or confident or determined. Working hard is one thing, but remember that luck also plays a factor.
The one book that was extremely helpful for me during the April 2014 exam was Environmental Engineering Dictionary by Lee. It is an expensive book but it helped me get a better sense of the different terminologies in the environmental engineering realm. There are no problems to solve; it is just a good reference.
Another great book with some actual problems to solve is Air Pollution Control: A Design Approach by Cooper and Alley. I have the 2nd Edition from college but the 4th Edition contained a section at the very back of the book that has sample air pollution-themed PE questions. Thus, get the 4th edition if you don't have it already.
A third book with pretty tough but relevant problem solving to do is Practical Design Calculations for Groundwater and Soil Remediation by Kuo. The example problems are well put together and it shows the steps. I found this book helpful near the end of my studies right before the exam as a "culmination summary" of what I know/didn't know.
My last piece of advice is to redo the 2010 NCEES test booklet. When I studied for the October 2013 exam, I basically cheated my own studying by copying the solutions and hoping that I understood the steps. This wasn't helpful. When I went through it again to study for the April 2014 exam, I actually tried to do each problem slowly. I also asked people on this EngineeringBoards for help to solve a few questions "the long way" because some printed solutions didn't make any sense.

1) This time, I solved the problems without looking at the solutions. This really helps as you get into this exercise of thinking and looking for the references. After you have done few problems you will really enjoy it.
2) Most of the references mentioned on this forum are what I used.
3) Make notes so that you have all relevant information at one place. for example - you might have a pump problem where you need to find the NPSH . Over the course of your prep you will find atleast few problems that you be related to NPSH. Place them all in one place. Also any references that you used, print it and place it along with this problem. You will thank yourself on the day of exam. By doing this exercise for some of the common problems that you encounter in PE, you would dramatically increase your chances (luck) to pass the PE.

Did anyone take the California Surveying exam? It felt like they changed the format from the last time I took it. Does anyone know if there was a format change on the questions?? There were a lot more complex figures than the last time (which resulted in taking more time to solve).
