    SE exam after Oct 2021

I think that if people pay for it, they will offer it. When I took my SE lateral in October 2019 in Milwaukee (Wisconsin is not an SE state), I think there were 8 total people in the room.

SE Exam: Does the eligibility authorized by the State expire?

I can't speak to California, but I can for Illinois. In Illinois your application to sit for the exam and/or receive your SE is valid for 3 years after the approval. Within that 3 year period, you can take the exam in Illinois as many times as needed. If your IL application expires, you...

    Experience Write-up for Bridge Inspection

I had to jump through similar loops when transferring my Wisconsin PE to Illinois, so I share the feelings with you. For a write up on bridge inspection, I would be specific on the types of inspections and reference specific criteria. For example, "I perform routine, element level, fracture...

    S.E exam books

Yes, the wind changed unfortunately.  I really hope that this is as far as it goes, and does not go even closer to the building wind, which is way too confusing.   The other large changes from 7th to 8th are the development lengths and plate girder splice designs.  Based on my previous attempts...

    S.E exam books

There are not a whole lot of significant changes between the 6th and 7th edition. The biggest one I can think of off the top of my head is the steel resistance factor for tension only went from 0.9 to 0.95.  David Conner’s book, I believe, highlights all of the changes.  This is a must have...

    S.E exam books

That is good to know.  I was thinking that since the SE specs have not really changed in a while, that the 8th edition was relatively current.

    S.E exam books

Yes.  STERM = SERM.   When I took the PPI review course they called it STERM and that just kind of stuck.

    S.E exam books

For the STERM, the latest edition would be best, but it is very expensive.  You could probably use an edition or two older, just make sure whatever code that has changed you go through and update any changes that may have occurred.  I am almost positive that the 8th edition references the same...

    S.E exam books

This is my take.    I would take both days at once. It is A LOT but there is a key component to this test that doesn’t seem to be talked about, luck. If you take them both, you may get lucky and get an easier exam.  What if you decide to take only vertical, and that cycle has a lateral passing...

Everything you wanted to know about the CA-Survey/Seismic Civil PE Exams

I apologize if this has been already discussed on here.  Can somebody tell me, based on their experience, what the difference is between the CA Seismic exam and the NCEES 16 Hour SE Lateral component (with the exception of high wind on SE)?  Which is more difficult?  Etc.

    SE Exam Oct 2019 Result

@Duke  I used to understand that whole thing, which is part of the reason why I stopped taking the test in that dump hotel in Hillside and drove up to Milwaukee.  Wisconsin released their results on Tuesday morning.

    SE Exam Oct 2019 Result

Wow....I think NCEES finally realized that the lateral bridges has been horrible for so long that they drastically increased the passing cut score!   Bridge people get screwed with this exam, as 75% of the AM is building focused.

    April 2019 SE Results Thread

@Stewie  Its a damn shame that we did not pass the lateral with those scores.  You beat me by 1 in AM lol.  But to answer your question from earlier about how to study for PM problems, I created a list of steps for each type of problem, i.e. column, footing, and analysis.  These steps have...

    April 2019 SE Results Thread

@LetsSE  Illinois always takes longer than other Board's.  They are also one of the few Boards that still use the middle-man like CTS.  I used to attempt this exam in that dump of test center in Hillside, this time I tried (and failed) to take it in Milwaukee, which is a wayyyyy nicer test...

    April 2019 SE Results Thread

I took the Lateral - Bridges in Milwaukee, and results were posted a few hours ago.  Failed Again!  23/40 in AM and all 3 Acceptables in PM.  Damn building concrete killed me 0/5.  I was above average in 6 of the 10 categories somehow. Can someone provide any advice as to how a bridge engineer...
