Woot! I passed CA SEIII. No more testing for me! :D

I am waiting not-so-patiently for CA SEIII exam results too. I have Jan. 24th marked as the date I should have received my results - exactly 13 weeks from the exam date. And I have a bottle of expensive champagne waiting for when I get a positive result. Hope I get to drink it this year! :D

Aw c'mon Moby Dick isn't that bad. :) Hehe... Now trying to read Crime and Punishment on my own or the Count of Monte Cristo (in French even) was a serious mistake.

So I emailed AISC and got a response which summed up is "either hand calc or from table is fine". But there was nothing there explaining the differences I got in calculations and why one hand calc would be less than the table and then in another calc the hand calc would be more than the table...

Just wanted to mention, regardless if whether wind or seismic governs, if you are in high-seismic zone there are special detailing requirements in Ch. 21 that still need to be used. Where I work all buildings are SDC D, E, or F. So everything in the lateral system needs to be a special design...

It's somewhat pathetic that I am replying to my own post. But... I think I might have passed! I only have to wait 13 weeks now to find out my score. I will cry if I am within 15% of passing again... Hope lots of engineers pass this time!
