When to expect STR II results

I am waiting not-so-patiently for CA SEIII exam results too. I have Jan. 24th marked as the date I should have received my results - exactly 13 weeks from the exam date. And I have a bottle of expensive champagne waiting for when I get a positive result. Hope I get to drink it this year! :D

    Test-induced insanity

Aw c'mon Moby Dick isn't that bad. :) Hehe... Now trying to read Crime and Punishment on my own or the Count of Monte Cristo (in French even) was a serious mistake.

AISC Seismic Design Manual: eccentric weld groups

So I emailed AISC and got a response which summed up is "either hand calc or from table is fine". But there was nothing there explaining the differences I got in calculations and why one hand calc would be less than the table and then in another calc the hand calc would be more than the table...

ACI 318-05 Ch. 21 Seismic Provisions

Just wanted to mention, regardless if whether wind or seismic governs, if you are in high-seismic zone there are special detailing requirements in Ch. 21 that still need to be used. Where I work all buildings are SDC D, E, or F. So everything in the lateral system needs to be a special design...

    Test-induced insanity

It's somewhat pathetic that I am replying to my own post. But... I think I might have passed! I only have to wait 13 weeks now to find out my score. I will cry if I am within 15% of passing again... Hope lots of engineers pass this time!

    Test-induced insanity

Too much studying puts strange ideas into my head. I'm prepping for California SEIII exam on Saturday. I've taken it 2x already. I really want to pass this time and have studied whereas before I didn't really study so much. My list of excuses is long. ANYWAYS... I think this SE exam is like my...

AISC Seismic Design Manual: eccentric weld groups

I did submit this is a technical question to AISC. For my exam I'll probably just end up doing calcs without any tables if I don't get this issue resolved. And thanks for page location on the avg stress. :)

AISC Seismic Design Manual: eccentric weld groups

So throughout this book they typically show you how to do a calc by hand and then show you a quick way to look up the same value in a table. But I'm having problems understanding some choices made for braced frame connections. In Ex. 3.11, p. 3-72 and 73, the long calc shows 5/8" weld is...

    Less Than a Month

Hi. New here. I passed the national exam a few years ago and only have the California seismic exam. Thankfully it's only one test and it's on a Saturday. Bad news is I don't know what the hell I'm doing. It's new code and I'm trying to cram now for steel, then masonry, then concrete. Also I...
