Just turned in the paperwork for my bonus. 3% of base salary. Too bad it's a bonus and not a raise. Oh well, better than a sharp stick in the eye.

In general the midwest and the southeast are fairly low cost of living. Local factors still apply of course. Whether there's jobs you are willing to take is another matter. I live in western WA. Pretty expensive housing, but the rest isn't too bad. Eastern side of the state is much lower...

For WA, results were released 12/13. My license number showed up in the online lookup 12/27. So 2 weeks exactly, and with Christmas in the middle. Not too bad. Still haven't recieved the certificate in the mail though.

I borrowed all the books, so no expense there. I did spend $20 on a calculator as I didn't find the one from the FE until the night before the results of the PE were posted. :madgo: Anyway, only other expenses were the prep class at UW ($750 paid directly by my employer), $330 between DOL...

No continuing education requirements here. Yet. No idea if that's on the table. On some level it seems like it would be a good idea to require licensed folks to take classes, but at the same time I'm glad to not have to keep track of that kind of stuff.

Surprised they didn't do that in such a way as you got screwed out of a year's worth of license time. WA just jacked their license fees too. They've memory-holed the table since the New Year, but before August 1 it was IIRC $76 to renew, and is now $116. Don't know how that compares to other...

So, apparently on December 27 the state of Washington issued my license number. When I was looking at page I noticed that the experation date on my license was my birthday. This year (2013). What the hell? I thought the license was supposed to be good for 2 years. With my birthday in late...

Don't you mean all areas are on the morning portion? I took Mech Systems and materials and the afternoon was all related to that. The morning had some HVAC and T/F related questions in addition to MS/Mats.

As stated above, 35 years 4 months on the exam day. I also have 3 kids (8, 6 and 1), and my wife is pregnant with our 4th. Made for some entertaining times. Thankfully she was very understanding of my need to study.

Apparently the WA folks were too busy smoking their newly legal doobies on Wednesday afternoon to release the results. At least they came out early the next morning.

Once the head hunters/job shops get your resume they never quit calling. Even when you ask them to. Fair warning.

A couple weeks won't surprise me. Be nice if they just got it done, but I guess they're too busy getting stoned and marrying their gay partners to go any faster. With my EIT I couldn't remember how long it took to get the certificate, but it wasn't all that quick. It was backdated to the date...

Anyone know how long WA usually takes to update the database and issue license numbers? I don't think I can actually put "P.E." after my name until then.
