Everything you wanted to know about the CA-Survey/Seismic Civil PE Exams

Very nice. I've been thinking about getting licensed in CA in case I ever decide to do consulting work out there. It's good to know that I don't have to travel there for the exams.

    PMP Exam Prep

The exam has changed a few times since I took it, but Rita's book is unmatched. I used quite a few different books.....Rita's sample tests most closely resembled exam questions.

One week out from the test advice

I fully agree with the advice above. This last week needs to be taken lightly. Tabbing references is a good way to keep your mind sharp.

    Passed PMP Exam

That's a pretty fair assessment of the PMP. I tell people that Rita's book is the best thing out there. (someone is making a lot of money off her name). There are a few other books out there like Head First which was mentioned earlier and one by Kim Heldman. Overall to all the people who aced...

Why do civil engineers have to take so many exams?

That is the most valid statement thus far. Civil engineers make up the majority....which is a gift and a curse. The gift is there are always jobs available while the curse is that there's no real incentive to pay CE's significantly more because there will be someone else willing to work for less.

    P.E. or PE

Hahaha we need more quotes like this

    P.E. or PE

Man, this convo again? Well I use the periods to differentiate it from my PMP. But for some reason, I didn't use periods for my EIT

Civil PE Exam Transportation Depth References April 2015

In addition to those listed above as must needs, I'd recommend finding a way to get the AASHTO Pedestrian Faciilities manual. In addition to roadways, my agency does a lot of hike/bike trails. This is the new trend in transportation. I could think of dozens of simple questions to ask someone...

    Failures... What was your score?

I've never understood the notion that someone would spend months studying preparing to get 56 (give or take) questions correct. I too agree that NCEES shouldn't share the passing score, but some of the reasons I hear on here are ridiculous. My reason is that since the score changes, they'd get...

Pocket card is online. But yes, you'll get one in the mail too

October 2014 PE Pass Rates are Posted on NCEES

Not sure if this has been mentioned but it looks like NCEES has released new Practice Problems. From the preview, a few problems are the same but it appears most are new.

    Any info on Louisiana results?

I love the ladies over at LAPELS. I am from Louisiana but live in Texas now. Ask for Cheron (pronounced Sharon).....she's very nice and helpful.

    Failures... What was your score?

Dan, I found the CERM relatively helpless. Goswami presented itself in such a user-friendly manner that I couldn't help but rely on it. I may have opened the CERM once or twice on the obscure theory questions. Even on those, the Civil Engineering Handbook by Chen was much more helpful. I'm not...

    Alabama has been released

LOL, that's kind of a douchebag move Porter to call the exam a "doozy" after someone stated that they've failed that discipline. C'mon man, keep that kind of stuff to yourself.

    Historical release dates

It happens at times. I got results December 29, 2010..........and that was the first day of release. So it has happened "recently"

    39... I mean... 40 days

LOL what is she talking about? What's next......they should go back to mailing results?

AM & PM- Your thoughts on the exam

Hahaha I think he/she meant they studied 10-15 different "types" of construction problems. I could be wrong though......I'd just rather give people the benefit of the doubt.

Just passed the new CBT FE exam

ABEngineer, I commend you for not losing your cool when the "old head" tried to discredit what you were saying or trying to add their 2 pennies when they really don't know anything about this new version of the exam other that what they read online. I'll speak on behalf of the old heads......we...

    what would you do

Hungryguy, I'm not sure most of the people responding to this post truly understand what you're saying. I get it.....basically if you don't pass the exam and take the job offer, then you'll have a probation period on the job in which you'll want to dedicate all of your free time learning your...
