new version of reference handbook up version 1-1-1

Same amount of pages, still no protection. Do they post the changes anywhere?

Complex Imaginary Electrical Code Drill Book

I have this book. I've probably worked 60-80 problems. WARNING. The book I have is made for the NEC 2014. It just so happens like 5 to 8 questions HAVE DIFFERENT ANSWERS from 2014 to 2017. Even worse some questions they asked are REMOVED from 2017. SO if you "try to solve without looking at...

Question trying to solve voltage for Burden of transformer

I guess I've just been working too much on Zach Stone's website. Thanks for explaining. I am used to this saying "A 200:5 Amp CT".... which would let you know the units are in amps not a unitless ratio.

Question on doing simple integral and using calculator

Yeah I will seriously need a trigger warning if its just BAM "solve this differential equation" or "Solve this integral using substitution method" GOD NO GOD NO

Question trying to solve voltage for Burden of transformer

So the fact that the letters say "CT" is what changes everything? If it didn't say that, you would assume it 200:5 is the turns ratio right? Does anyone have experience with taking the test and knows if this is common wording of the actual test or is this a spin up type wording thing. Seems...

Question trying to solve voltage for Burden of transformer

    Wouldn't the equation be Isec/Ipri = Npri/Nsec?  Do CT's have the i1/i2 = n1/n2?

Having trouble connecting the dots from this example.

NEC OCPD on a transformer question

Well dang said and explained perfectly for my understanding. Makes perfect sense. Yes I've worked all of Zach's quizzes, twice. My goal is to redo the circuits/nec/protection modules probably next week since we are now closer to the test. That is a great idea and man do I love his website!

NEC OCPD on a transformer question

I'm still just as lost as I was when I posted the question. I don't see how you calculate your ampacity as 313, and then "downsize" the OCPD to 300 amps. I'm sure it's some little rule or exception somewhere.  I read somewhere that the cables "now" (not before) are designed with a 80% load...

Question about NEC, OCPD after finding wire ampacity

Exactly. Good point. I pray they don't use these "tricks" that the HB makes easy and the codebook doesn't to test on.  I am curious and dreading the NEC portion of this PE exam coming up. And the protection since there is zero in the reference book. The two biggest sections we have zero in...

NEC OCPD on a transformer question

Solution said "it isn't allowed to go up in size when picking a OCPD". I can't find in the code where that isn't allowed. I would naturally think you would want to upsize your OCPD so you know you don't undersize it. I still don't see how if you have a max current of 313A how you can use a 300...

Question about NEC, OCPD after finding wire ampacity

Thank you for posting handbook explanation. I haven't used any handbook since they said we will be given the "codebook" i been training myself to use only that.

Question about NEC, OCPD after finding wire ampacity

This is from Wasim's literature. I would think you would size up your ampacity to the NEXT standard OCPD. Is it normal, per NEC, if your ampacity of cables is say 100 A, you can choose a 100A breaker and NOT step up to a 110 A breaker?

All ideas welcome, who all using JUST NCEES REFERENCE BOOK who still using literature

I should have clarified, I mean even if you are a PE, I would like to know what strategies YOU would take if you were taking it now with us.

All ideas welcome, who all using JUST NCEES REFERENCE BOOK who still using literature

Curious who is still using some literature and who is just using the reference book? I would also like to know what people suggest that already passed it.

    Voltage drop, power factor question

Thanks for explaining the 2/root 3

    Voltage drop, power factor question

Do you transform one of these equations or do you memorize that for the test? I'm doing the best I can to stick to the reference book I don't use any of my books or Zachs printed notes. I have a damn 12 month catalog of references that are useless. :(

    Voltage drop, power factor question

when working this problem, I took .85 as face value for power factor and used Z chart, obviously I'm wrong but I don't know why.

Question on doing simple integral and using calculator

The fact that this reference handbook is only like 90 pages, and 10 are dedicated to math, I seen them incorporating questions that involve math if applicable like this. I pray I'm wrong because I earned my way through enough with the FE and math I don't want to live that life again. LOL

Question on doing simple integral and using calculator

Found a youtube video that helped, Current is a constant so you can just pull that out, integral of just 180 is 180.  Does anyone know how I could have solved this using calculator?
