How much time does it take for you to complete each practice exam?

Dec 5th here. I wish you the best.  I also was "questioning" myself last night studying I couldn't remember if P=I^2R for 3ph and 1ph or not. Another reason I hate not having our notes with us, something so simple we would have in front of us but if we don't memorize it we screwed. :(

Complex Imaginary question 31 NEC problem

Yeah luckily the NCEES practice exam NEC questions aren't a joke like this. This really frustrated me, this made me feel like engineering school. I don't feel this is testing you to see how good of an engineer you are or how you can utilize the NEC to keep people safe this. This was a "hehehe I...

Complex Imaginary question 31 NEC problem

Sigh.  Light bulb moment. is it really "B", because that's the only one out of these 4 that is in the answers? SO that isn't the "only way to size a conductor" It is the "only way listed"  For example if A said "125 percent of full-load current rating of the highest rated motor", then...

Complex Imaginary question 31 NEC problem

I'm having trouble finding where in the NEC it says the rules for sizing a multimotor circuit regardless of what loads are on the circuit.

Complex Imaginary question 31 NEC problem

Your last sentence is exactly why I am not connecting the dots of how i know to use C. I still don't understand why its not 125% of first motor and 100% of second motor.  It's so damn frustrating that I, as well, have worked enough NEC problems I knew exactly where to go. and I'm just looking...

Complex Imaginary question 31 NEC problem

Can someone help me connect the dots, I don't know how to know just to automatically go to #3 at 430.24

How much time does it take for you to complete each practice exam?

One variable we have, that paper and pencil didn't, is we have 8 hours period to take the entire test, NOT  4 hours AM and PM (if its like how other PEs are). My plan is if the first half seems to be easy, and I CAN finish in 3-3.5 hours then finish it and bank those hours for PM. I would hate...

How much time does it take for you to complete each practice exam?

I'm thinking we will have more than enough time with it being CBT now. I took the FE multiple times while in college because I considered them "free attempts". It's just money, and it showed me what I really needed to concentrate on in engineering school. Doing the CBT exam I could determine...

    Question determining turns ratio

Thank you sir! I haven't even noticed that portion of the handbook and i swear I feel I have went over it 5 times!

    Question determining turns ratio

    I guess I'm an idiot, how is the turns not .5 since vp/vs = 300/500 = .5? .

Voltage drop using new reference handbook for 3 phase NOT unity power factor

I don't see how this formula can be line-to-neutral voltage drop, when it doesn't even consider the length of cable run.

    Help with solving short-circuit current

To solve for short circuit current, do you just know you're supposed to take the phase voltage instead of the line voltage? Since the system was in 3-phase I wouldn't have thought to change.

Help me find NEC 2017 Table 310.15(b)(7)

Thanks for looking I went to 2011/14/17 and wasn't going to spend more time. These writers and publishers should be ASHAMED. It is a crying shame that we are busting our ass to take one of the hardest exams that exist, paying money, and they can't even get a book right. My copywrite is 2020, but...

Help me find NEC 2017 Table 310.15(b)(7)

I have a question that shows this as the answer, but I can't find it anywhere in the NEC. Many places refer to the table but I can't find the table itself even using a search function.

Can this problem be solved with our reference handbook?

There was another question like this in spin-up, and I used your analysis. The only difference is my 2 XFMRS were 3 MVA and 4 MVA with difference impedances. The final answer ended up not being WHICH transformer was overloaded, it was HOW MUCH is the overloaded transformer OVERLOADED by. Answer...

Can this problem be solved with our reference handbook?

And that's why I asked, I seen that, but it was under "single phase xfmrs in parrallel" with all these stipulations. I guess those 5 stipulations and this formula aren't together? I didn't now if I assume they meet these conditions, or if these 2 things are unrelated to each other.

Can this problem be solved with our reference handbook?

I have solved problems like this many times using Zach Stone's wonderful notes. I am going with the strategy that if it isn't in the book, and I don't know off memory. I haven't been solving problems (except protection because I think a large protection section will be added before the test...

new version of reference handbook up version 1-1-1

Please make sure to post changes. I noticed the 5 different "sections" (circuits/general engineering/etc) now have a number next to them. 1. General 2. General Engineering 3. circuits. That's all i noticed studying tonight.
