    funny pic thread

Same here. I have seen all of the Karate Kid movies (including the one with Swank), and I have to say I think the storyline of newest one was better than the original. The original was pretty much solely about knowing how and when to stand up for oneself; the newer version added the concepts...

    Kids of EB

My father spent a few weeks after he took off the training wheels, walking/running next to the bike with the plan of "if you fall I'll catch you". One day he ran forward about twenty feet, then stopped. I freaked out, forgot how to brake, and had a crash along the side of a short chain-link...

What is the manliest thing you ever did?

You're not that tall. :( I'm 6'3. No heels needed or wanted.

What is the manliest thing you ever did?

Now I have to know how tall you are.

    PE Exam continuing education requirment

Most of the states that don't have a requirement for a certain number of hours of CE still require you to continue your professional development. They just aren't picky about how you do so. And it's not that difficult, actually; these days you can get them by paying a small fee to an...

What is the manliest thing you ever did?

Ahem. Not a man, but [redacted for TMI] and it feels like a vise grip sometimes. Far worse than anything done to the upper body feels. Oh, and I do this *daily*. Manliest thing I've done? Probably getting lost in Seattle because I didn't stop and ask for directions. /Oh, is that not what...

    Would you eat a unicorn?

Just make sure that while you're hunting the Unicorn the Unicorn isn't also hunting you. http://complexactions.com/?id=231

What is the manliest thing you ever did?

It's not a contest. Your statement, by the way, was very moving. I'd planned to come in here with some snark, but after that... wow.

    Earthquake Anyone

<----- agrees in all particulars. I can barely stand to climb an 8' tall portable ladder. Oddly, I can look out over a 50 story drop without issues.

    Airwolf

I loved that show as a kid. Was right up there with A-team, Knight Rider and Night Court for entertainment. (One of these things is not like the others. Can you tell which one?)

    The Dream Thread

I've had recurring dreams of the "I'm going to school/work/whatever as a woman and I'm the only one that knows something is wrong" variety. These dreams, in fact, were my main pre-puberty signal that something was wrong. I've also had dreams in which I'm assaulted - verbally or physically -...

    The Dream Thread

I have a number of recurring dreams. One is a nightmare I first had while fairly sick as a child; the room I'm in becomes a 3-D Tetris game, with the walls and everything falling around me locking me in place. The others generally involve gender confusion or violence.

The Beginning of the End for Suburban America

Not so much people I work with (coworkers), but clients? I see them all the time. Which is disturbing, since it's a metro area of over 200k people.

The Beginning of the End for Suburban America

I live in the suburbs of a small city; I'm about 7 miles from my office, which is downtown. I like my house, but I hate the drive - I'd love to telecommute instead of going back and forth. My wife does work from home, so it's convenient.

    Experience Requirements by State

Or you could read their laws and rules. California requires a total of 6 years of experience to get a license. Up to 4 years may be undergraduate studies, and graduate studies can grant an extra year. At least one year of actual experience is required. It is possible to obtain a license in...

***What is your test taking strategy***

Wishful thinking, unfortunately. Sometimes there is, sometimes there isn't. I think I remember that happening one time on my FE, but in my experience it's not a direct connection as a general rule.

Someone pretending to be an engineer

So much all of this. I've had a few arguments with a friend of mine over her referring to herself as an Engineer. And yeah, I'd agree with NCcarguy, the "no degree" path is far more difficult, painful and rough than college would have been. (Though Washington only requires 8 years experience...

    3D Printing

I seem to remember having a part printed back in 2002 or so. It wasn't a significantly structural part, so I didn't worry about it. I must say I am curious about the mechanical properties of the printed items.

    Dealing with Office Expectations

He may be trying to get you confident. I know when I took my exam, my boss took it as assumed I'd passed - same with the other guy taking his exam, and every other person here that's taken one. Every single time, the first words out of his mouth the next week were something along the lines of...

    Teacher vs. Engineer

I've been told I'm a good teacher - or at least tutor. I've considered becoming a teacher, but I rather suspect I'd have issues getting a job.
