    How many tries before passing?

As always check with your state board to be sure, however, most states do not require you to have a degree in the field that matches your PE. Some states don't require a degree at all. Speaking for my state of California: They don't require a degree at all. They require an EIT or waiver...

Yes that is what I meant by G sheets. I didn't mean gangsta sheets. What's up G?

    Texas License by Comity (multi-discipline)

Hi guys and gals, There is a possibility that I may relocate to Texas due to my company moving. I am trying to get a grasp on how the licensure works there as well as comity applications. Currently, I am licensed in California as both a Mechanical and an Electrical Engineer (here we have to...

    Head Start on NCEES Record?

I went through this process and it was much easier than it seems at first. Specifically, it was easy because you can piece mail the required documents. The required references are much easier than the Ca references since all that is required is a signature; none of ther stamps and sealed...

Which Boards are the most helpful

I will say the CA board is pretty good. They have improved tremendously over the last few years. There are probably several reasons for that. I suspect it has to do for with the policy changes in the application process (e.g. having you sign up with NCEES) which has reduced their workload...

How are you organizing your material

Some people I know index the heck out of all of their references using sticky tabs. I personally find that overkill since things tend to be well indexed in most books. During my studying from any bound book or code, I find sections that have tables, equations, ect. which I have to refer to...

    Seismic/Survey Computer Based Testing tips

+1! Agreed. CBC and IBC contain the same info when it comes to the seismic principles exam. CBC contains some slightly "alternate" sections labeled for example 16XXXA instead of simply 16XXX. These alternate sections are adopted by certain AHJs such as DSA and OSHPD. Since you can't...

What happens if we don't find out our scores in time to re-test?

+1! Don't trust what "someone on this site mentioned" when it comes to dates exams will be release nor what the cut scores will be. This is especially true when it comes to them giving specific dates. Nobody here has a crystal ball regardless of "my good sources tell me." Heck we like to...

    Failed multiple times, options?

Sorry for not answering your actual question, but yes you should able to apply at a neighboring state of you meet their requirements. Then you can apply for comity in your home state. The problem with this is that if you may not want to let that first state expire after comity because if you...

    Failed multiple times, options?

Can you describe your exam preparation strategy? Did you do anything different the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th times as far as strategy? Or did you simply put in more time? What are your references that you have been studying from? I've tutored a few collegues for this exam so maybe I can help.

    Failed multiple times, options?

Is it 12 additional courses or 12 hours? Your description says both.

    How many tries before passing?

Mechanical - Thermal Fluids, October 2009, passed 1st try. Electrical - Power, April 2011, passed 1st try. Civil - Construction 8 hour, October 2013, passed 1st try. Civil - CA Seismic principles, April 2014, awaiting results of 1st attempt Civil - CA Surveying principles, April 2014, awaiting...

    PE results released sooner?

There is some logic to this. If I'm not mistaken, FE results are released by prometric within days, not weeks. Also, the FE is a continuous exam administration, no longer just twice per year. Lastly is NCEES still involved? I thought it was all Prometric?

    Seismic/Survey Computer Based Testing tips

Thanks. Theses are some great tips. For #3, I'd recommend just bringing your own earplugs. They are allowed so long as they are not connected with a string. After showing up for Seismic and prometric practically giving me a whole cavity search and confiscating everything.... I just assumed a...

What is an SE license worth in California?

In California, as you probably know, you have to hold a Civil PE license in addition to the SE. In California, the SE license/title grants you the additional abilities: 1. Design buildings/structures under DSA jurisdiction. DSA is division of the state architect. They are responsible for...

Any other taking 2014 April CA Survey Exam?

I took survey today. I did all the PPI/Bonitace problems. I went in confidently, but just did not pace myself well. Thought it was kinda rough. Unlike seismic, I was surprised to see multiple questions from the same exhibit, which was a good thing.... For now, I tell myself I pass and take...

    CA Seismic Survey Reference Materials

You can download a pdf of the California Building Code 2013, Volume 2 for free. Just google it. Print out the whole thing or just the chapters you need. I believe all you need are chapters 16,17,18, &19. This is what I did and just put it in a binder. I had our admin at work, make tabs...

Civil Surveying Sample Exams, Exam 1, Question 30

Got it. I see Ptatohed's way. I can also follow canvasbak66's solution (except I use law of sines). Thank you both. I also found another way, though not as convenient for the exam because it is time consuming .... It involves setting up 4 equations with 4 unknowns as follows. AX + LAP*Sin...
