    May Exam Results

I received the results for the seismic exam at 3:14 AM this morning. I'm happy to say that I passed! This was state exam 2 of 2 for me. I can now move on with my life and stop worrying about getting my CA license.

    CA Seismic Results February 2023

I took the exam yesterday. Everything I needed for the exam was included in the AEI manual or the handouts provided during the course. I brought a hard copy of ASCE 7-16, but I never touched it during the exam. The only material I referenced in ASCE 7-16 was for special inspections, and Dr...

    Surveying Exam

I struggled with timing at first. I think everyone does. The game changers for me were getting a TI-89 and then repeatedly doing timed practice problems. In the final weeks leading up to my exam, I did nine practice exams and spent time every night doing one or two practice "quizzes" from CPESR...

I went through all the CPESR videos and did the quizzes associated with them. Then I used Reza's Civil Surveying Review Workshop book and did all the practice problems and...

I received my results at 2:07 AM. It was my first try and I passed. Now onto taking the seismic exam. I started studying for it two weeks ago and am already feeling less confident about it than the surveying exam.

Seismic Review Courses: Heiner/Seismic Design Review vs. Ibrahim/AEI

I'm leaning towards the AEI for this reason. Like you, I've got colleagues who swear that Hiner's course is the way to go. However, I want the ability to rewatch the videos. I'm studying for the surveying exam now using the CPESR study course and the ability to rewatch videos has been valuable.

Seismic Review Courses: Heiner/Seismic Design Review vs. Ibrahim/AEI

I plan to start studying for the seismic exam in February. I'm debating between signing up for courses from Heiner and Ibrahim. For those who have used their courses, can you tell me your experience? Is there a consensus about which instructor's course is better?
