Finished reviewing the Hiner book, his practice test seemed pretty plug/chug and only a few conceptual type questions. When I took the 8-hour I was surprised at how conceptual the questions were instead of plug/chug. Does anybody recall if the seismic exam was pretty conceptual of the questions are pretty much code/equation look up with and then just calculating?

It's hard to say whether the seismic exam is going to be more conceptual or more calculation-based, as it changes from test to test. I'd practice as many problems of both types as you're able to.

I used Hiner's book a few years ago when I took and passed seismic, and though it prepared me very well.
