I was reading some good information for all civil exam test takers. The PLS exam is closed book with a formula sheet. (Just like the FE) The formula sheet is avaliable on the NCEES website and contains many formulas that will be helpful to civil examinees who are taking the transportation exam in the afternoon or it is useful for the morning portion for vertical, horizontal and spiral curves. I found this after taking the exam. If I did not pass I will print out the surveyor formula sheet and have it bound for the retake. I really hope I passed! I took the construction afternoon module. I look for results the week of June 12. Took the exam in Washington. Good luck all!

The LSIT is closed book like the EIT. The PLS is open book like the PE.

In addition to the above mentioned reference, CalTrans has surveying study material (free books and videos) that would also be helpful. I can't remember the link, but if you google it the website will show up.
