Can a licensed Mechanical Engineer sign fire protection drawings in North Carolina or is a licensed Fire Protection Engineer required to sign them?

I'd check the state boards website for the specific North Carolina laws regulating the use of the stamp. If the person is qualified to do the work it might be OK, but he/she had best be prepared to demonstrate thier competence relative to the material they're stamping in case anyone raises a stink.

Our Mechanical Engineer signs fire protection drawings in NC. But not very often and when we do we just add the criteria for the contractor to lay it out.
