Does anyone have any input for the best available technologies for iron and manganese removal? I am preparing a CIP for a community water system experiencing staining, odors, and other nuisances from these metals. Currently they are using a sequestering agent, but once it passes through a hot water heater it loses suspension and the fe and mn are back making trouble for the families etc.

Thanks in advance!

6. Aeration, chlorination, sedimentation, sand filtration

7. Aeration, lime treatment, sedimentation, sand filtration

8. Aeration, coagulation and lime treatment, sedimentation, sand filtration

9. Zeolite softening

10. Lime treatment, sedimentation, sand filtration

I have seen the same list reproduced in the AWWA water/wastewater treatment handbooks.

Thanks for the list and reference - I managed to get ahold of the AWWA handbook from a water operator
