I have taken the Chemical PE exam twice now and failed both times. I am gearing up for my third time in October. However, I feel that since I have been working as an environmental engineer for the past 6 years I might take the environmental PE instead. Does anyone have any advice on taking the exam for the environmental discipline?

Well, what is your line of work? If you come up with a list of areas where you practice and compare that to the syllabus for each exam (available on the NCEES website), it might help point you in the right direction.

What were your strong and weak points on the ChemE exam?

Take a look at the "advice ... " thread. If you're working as an enviro eng., I say you should strongly consider taking the enviro exam - it would be more applicable to your work, and you will find many of the subjects very similar to the chem. eng. exam.
