Does any one think about this while working on this problem?

Starting toque = 5500 ft lb this exceeds full load torque by 22%

Isn't full load torque = 5500 (.78)=4290 ft lb?

Book have (5500/1.22)=4508 ft lb.

I'm I forgetting how % works?

If my say weight exceeds yours by 15%, then Wyou * 1.15 = Wme, or in this case 4508 * 1.22 = Tstart = 5500
