As many know, starting January 1, 2011, we make the switch to the IBC 2009. In light of this, I would like to start some exciting discussion regarding the changes/differences from IBC 2006. Many believe that this will be one of the smoothest transitions in history because IBC 2009 is still adopting ASCE 7-05. In fact, changes are so subtle that some states are not adopting the IBC 2009 into their respective state building codes and are waiting for IBC 2012, which has drastic changes. However, where I live in CA, CBC 2010 will be adopting the IBC 2009, so I need to start familiarizing myself with the changes.
So, the purpose of this thread is to post anything, even subtle differences, that you find in IBC 2009. I will be doing my light reading for the next couple of weeks and comparing the two codes, so look for my posts soon.
