[SIZE=12pt]If so, our Aircraft Maintenance and Support Apprenticeship may be the opportunity you’ve been looking for.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=12pt]You'll be joining Military Air & Information — the part of BAE Systems that designs, manufactures and supports some of the world's most advanced military fast jets.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=12pt]It's a two-year apprenticeship that will train you to work on Mechanical Systems, Avionic Systems, Weapons Systems or in Continued Airworthiness support.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=12pt]As an Aircraft Maintenance and Support Apprentice, what can you expect?[/SIZE]

[SIZE=12pt]A typical apprenticeship for this opportunity comprises of spending a year at the Aircraft Maintenance Academy, in Humberside, developing your English, Maths and Information Technology skills plus completing your City & Guilds 2675 Technical Diploma. Accommodation will be provided during your first year of training at a subsidised rate.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=12pt]For the second year, you will be based at either RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire or RAF Marham in Norfolk, working towards a Level 3 NVQ. During that year you will be doing vocational streaming, meaning it’s ‘on the job training ‘and working in one of the following streams:[/SIZE]

[SIZE=12pt]Mechanical[/SIZE]

  • [SIZE=12pt]The Mechanical stream provides the opportunity for personnel to be employed working on aircraft mechanical systems either at the aircraft or in component maintenance facilities[/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=12pt]Typical roles include loading of operational or maintenance software, aircraft systems functional checks using built in or diagnostic test equipment, running of installed engines and mechanical component inspection, rectification and testing.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=12pt]Avionics[/SIZE]

  • [SIZE=12pt]The Avionics stream provides the opportunity for personnel to be employed working on aircraft avionic systems either at the aircraft or in component maintenance facilities.[/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=12pt]Typical roles include loading of operational or maintenance software, aircraft systems functional checks using built in or diagnostic test equipment, avionic component inspection, rectification and testing.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=12pt]Weapons[/SIZE]

  • [SIZE=12pt]The Weapons stream provides the opportunity for personnel to be employed working on aircraft weapons systems either at the aircraft or in component maintenance facilities.[/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=12pt]Typical roles include weapons loading, aircraft systems functional checks using built in or diagnostic test equipment, and weapon component inspection, rectification and testing.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=12pt]Continuing Airworthiness[/SIZE]

  • [SIZE=12pt]The Continuous Airworthiness stream provides the opportunity for personnel to be employed ensuring that the airworthiness of the aircraft is maintained through its life.[/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=12pt]This would involve strategic and tactical planning, making technical decisions which directly impact on aircraft maintenance/operations and ensuring the robustness of the Logistics Supply Chain[/SIZE]


[SIZE=12pt]At the end of the apprenticeship, you'll have had a good mix of learning experiences to ensure you develop the skills that will support you in the future. You’ll have the opportunity to learn from colleagues who are experts in their field, and gain insights that can only come from real world experience.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=12pt]As an Aircraft Maintenance and Support Apprentice your skills and qualifications will need to include: [/SIZE]

  • [SIZE=12pt]Five GCSEs Grade A-C (or equivalent), which must include Maths, English Language and Science [/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=12pt]Ability to demonstrate a level of hands on mechanical/avionic aptitude[/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=12pt]Good team working and communication skills[/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=12pt]Eligibility to work in the UK and be able to successfully achieve security clearance[/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=12pt]In addition, applicants will be expected to be medically fit as deemed necessary to perform the role (hearing and colour perception)[/SIZE]


[SIZE=12pt]Salary: [/SIZE][SIZE=12pt]Starting salary as an Apprentice will be £13,207 rising on NVQ verification.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=12pt]Location:[/SIZE][SIZE=12pt] You will be based at Humberside Airport in your first year, followed by RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire or RAF Marham in Norfolk in your second year.[/SIZE]
