    Adeeel, I have some bad new for you. You still need to pass the CA Seismic & Surveying Exams to get an SE in CA.

    Design tables not allowable?

    someone else please confirm, but I think you're allowed to bring them in and use them for answers in the morning session. However, for solving problems in the afternoon session they want you to use the equations.

    Post SE Exam results here...

    Got my results yesterday, passed the Lateral! For the vertical I got 30/40 and 2 Acceptable, 1 Improvement Required, 1 Unacceptable. I'm going to call after the holidays and see if anything can be done, it looks like I'm right on the cusp.

    Masonry Design

    typically I prefer to design everything with LRFD, it's easier with with steel and concrete imho. However, masonry I find a lot easier to design in ASD. I'd suggest getting S.K. Ghosh's code master, it was great for the masonry questions. Here's the website...

    One other thought about this, I mentioned that the morning session was a lot like the SE I, it was basically the exact same thing. The afternoon session however I felt much more rushed than I did for the SE II, I had to work right up until they called time, at a very fast pace. With the SE II...

    CA new special SE exam --- CSLRE

    Reading the pdf FAQ from kevo's post earlier leads me to believe there will be some sort of take-home exam on the California laws pertaining to structural engineering. I'm pretty sure I had to take something similar when I got my PE over there.

    16 hours of exam is definitely tough to handle. I thought the exam was difficult, but fair (unlike the WA SE III), and I think I might actually have a good chance of passing. There was more AASHTO on the exam than I thought there would be... My opinion was that the morning sessions were...
