Fellow Engineers, who have passed the PE exam, can you suggest me what you did different to pass the exam?

I can second Dr. Tom's class.  It was extremely helpful and I went into the test much better-prepared than the first time I took it. Surprisingly, I actually studied less for the exam the second time around since the course helped me to hone in on the specific topics that would likely be on the...

Need serious help in examining my exam techniques to pass PE Mechanical Machine Design Exam.

Well, you obviously are struggling with your listening and reading comprehension skills as they made it BLATANTLY clear that you are not to discuss specific test questions with anybody at any time during or after the test.

    Exam Weekend

took me two times to pass.  going in there the second time you know exactly what to expect and also know what weak points you had for the first go.  assuming you took care of those weaknesses you should kill it this time around.

New PE MD&M NCEES Specifications (starting Apr '17)?

Yes, I would recommend skipping over a majority of the thermo/HVAC stuff if you signed up for machine design.

To Those That Passed After Multiple Attempts

I took a class.  I have never been a very good self-learner and thrive in the most structured setting of a class.  It also helped me to hone down exactly what I needed to know and to not waste my time on all of the other fluff that has a .001% chance of being on the exam.

    Texas results in!!!!

Actually, scratch that.  I think the cutoff might have been in the high 40s?

    Texas results in!!!!

So it looks like the cutoff this time around was 51/80.  I think that is even lower than last October's cut off score for MEC.

    Texas results in!!!!

Dang so close!  You will definitely get it in October, though. Out of curiosity, how many questions did you get correct?

    Texas results in!!!!

I think you have earned the right to boast a little bit with a score like that! I tried the self-study route the first time and it didn't work for me.  I needed the structure of a class to get me over the hump.  You should definitely feel proud to score so well, particularly when self-studying.

Yeah if I recall for last October's test it took a decent while to display on TBPE after NCEES updated their site.

I passed as well!  Such a huge relief.  Congrats to everyone who passed and for those who didn't don't be discouraged.  I was right where you were last year.  You'll get it next time!

wtf that is such bs.  why not release them today?  what do they have to gain by waiting until tomorrow??

What are your Non-Passing Scores? Too soon?

So why curve the % score to begin with?  For instance, the October test I did rather poorly on and got something like 44/80 questions correct.  However, this showed up as scoring a 67% when I checked my grade on the Texas Board of Professional Engineers grade lookup.  So it appears that they...

What are your Non-Passing Scores? Too soon?

I was under the impression that they curve the tests so that 70% and above is always passing, but the number of correct answers to achieve 70% varies and is almost always lower.  So simply saying that you failed with a 68% doesn't really say much in regards to how many problems they got right or...

    Texas Test Results

Yeah I'm betting that we don't find out results until later this afternoon.  I remember that I didn't get the email saying results were out until around 5 pm for the October test.

    Expected Results Before May 24th

Ugh.  I am losing sleep over this.  Second time taking it but technically this is the fourth opportunity I could have taken it after being approved to sit for the exam.  Due to life events, I didn't sign up to take the October 2015 or April 2016 exams.  I know the old terms stated that even if...

Are most engineering jobs public sector?

Frankly, you are wayyyy overestimating how much time and effort most companies will put into researching your background.  If you want to see what sort of info a company will find on you by searching the internet then simply google yourself and see what comes up.  What you are looking at is...
