    I got it in MA!

I don't find those two circumstances equivalent but I understand your meaning.

    I got it in MA!

Parking in a bank parking lot when you aren't going into the bank. Apparently the bank thinks that you are casing the place to rob it and calls the police.

    I got it in MA!

One time in Mass I had to present my card to a police officer because I parked in a bank parking lot and went across the street to do an inspection. Apparently they frown on that practice.

    Structural Engineer (EIT) Salary

Depending on the OPs options, there is the potential to try and negotiate for more money. Might as well start learning this aspect of the business now. If they're not going to be willing to give you more then it may be time to move on.

    Employer using unlicensed software, liability?

I've never heard of anyone going to jail for lack of software licensing compliance before.

    Employer using unlicensed software, liability?

The company is liable for for any violations relating to software licensing, there's no risk to you as far as I'm aware. Software violations like the type you've described tend to only get enforced if an angry employee or former employee reports them.  I found out about that EULA issue with...

A little napalm would have solved that problem.

One drainage report can easily be over a pound. It certainly made me be selective when I applied.

    No Oct '15 Transpo comments?

I was about the same as you John. I didn't prep quite that long, maybe 4 months or so but there weren't any tricky questions on the exam in either session. I finished an hour early in the morning and close to 2 hours early in the afternoon.

    NCEES Record

Is any of your pre-college experience engineering related? I wouldn't think they'd want verification if it isn't as it has no bearing on your professional qualifications. As someone who has been applying for licensure in more states recently, the differences in the rules become even more...

I thought that Florida used to be the slow state.

Question about taking exam/get license in a state other than the one I am working in.

That may be an issue depending on where you apply for licensure. California for example, has the following requirement in their application: For California work, each engagement claimed as qualifying experience MUST have a reference from a licensed California Professional Engineer in...

    NCEES Record

They're going to want the information that meets the most stringent requirement. If in the case of Road Guy's example, CO wants every employer from HS on, that's what you'll need to provide. Getting employment verifications from the 9 employers I've had since college was a pain in the rear but...

    Civil Engineering Reference Manual

At some point I should just part with my 8th edition since it's only really useful as a paper weight these days.

Question about taking exam/get license in a state other than the one I am working in.

Experience counts anywhere in the county as long as it meets that State's requirements. Generally that means that you worked under the responsible charge of a licensed PE and in some cases can be verified by that supervisor.

Area of Competency vs Discipline Specific

Your interpretation is correct. I've seen states that don't pay any attention to discipline at all and a PE is a PE no matter what other than the exception of a structural engineer. It's up to your own professional judgement as to what you're competent to seal. California is pretty restrictive...

    Oct 2015

Good testing strategy on your part. Not getting yourself bogged down on any one question is in your best interests, especially during the morning session where you have less time per question on average.

    Quick Question

Waiting for the results was more nerve racking than the run up to test day for me.
