Anyone else take and pass the exam early?

Priorities. I'm single and had lots of time to study for the test. I passed after 2.5 years of experience and obtained my license in CA. Now, applying to some states through comity. I recently accepted a job offer with 70% salary increased located in a paradise. Life is good.

    Transformer Ratios

From this thread, there is a misconception between the turn ratio and the impedance of a transformer. The turn ratio of a transformer does not change regardless of its connection configuration such as delta-delta, delta-wye, or others. The turn ratio of a transformer will only change if the...

    Transformer Ratios

Yes, they are line-to-line voltages, V_p and V_s, and that is why the line-to-neutral voltage will be V_ln = 266V.

    Transformer Ratios

I don't see the error on that Spinup question either. Kovz solution is correct. The turns/winding ratio of the transformer is equal to the voltage ratio. The connection schemes of the transformer changes/remain the phase of the voltage.

Change of engagement under single employer

Check your state board's rules and statutes in regards with the definition of professional level responsibilities that they qualify for PE eligibility. If a state board defines your work experience not according to their requirements as a qualifying work experience, it doesn't matter whether you...

April PE - What did you think?

Totally agree with this! Understanding the fundamentals and concepts are the only way to pass this exam in addition with the depth of the examinee's professional work experience. I took my PE with only 2.5 years of work experience in a design firm.

    Hail Mary Pass

Yeah, pulling some all nighters will not do any good for you. It will only make you more stressed out and lose your focus. I, actually, chose to work the day before the exam just to take my mind off of thinking about the exam and to relieve my stress.

Is Calculus book needed for the Power PE?

I brought my NCEES FE Reference Handbook. It gave me one or a couple answer/s in which I would't be able to find in all of my references combined.

Listen to a good and mellow music that you would like. Perhaps, just plug in some ear plugs..

    Application Approval in CA

I submitted my PE application to CA state board including my sealed transcript from the university I graduated from. I am still waiting for approval through comity. I believe that it is not necessary to be sent directly from the university as long as the envelope is sealed.

    Parallel Transformer connection

You should be able to perform this analysis at this point in time. By varying the turns ratio (tap voltage) of a transformer, the impedance changes but not the kVA. Different kVA values will create imbalance. Look at my analysis below...

    Parallel Transformer connection

WIldi's book (pg. 212-216) is a very good source for this problem. The turn ratio and impedance of the transformer is dependent with each other. The total impedance (Z_total) of the transformer is obtained during short-circuit test, which is usually given in %. Changing the turn ratio of the...

    Parallel Transformer connection

The explanation of the answer is sufficient. You just have to read it many times until you understand it. If no avail, perform an engineering analysis. I always treat the parallel transformer problems with current divider (1 resistor = 1 transformer) analysis. Furthermore, in option A, the...
