Experience for PE license and changing jobs

From my understanding, most, if not all states require 4 years of work experience for one to officially earn the P.E. license (provided they do not have an advanced degree). Also, the way I understood the process is that another P.E. "petitions" for you to get a P.E. and describes your work for...

Hands on work that is still technical?

Most (95%+) of my work is at a desk, with the rest being more of field observations (ex: replacing transformer, does the new one fit in the same footprint, etc) Tests are done by technicians, or outside company technicians. Most of the design work that I do involves purchasing components or...

Hands on work that is still technical?

So did you get to develop your own testing methodologies, as well as work on design? Most testing positions I have seen do involve hands on things, but the testing engineer just gives results (of a test that is either procedural, or something some other engineer developed) to a design person...

    Degree Hierarchy

My supervisor has a BSEET, and he could (but didn't) get a PE if he wanted to. I think many states also recognize other states' PE licenses, so I wouldn't worry.

Hands on work that is still technical?

Not sure if this is the right subforum, but it was the most appropriate place I could think to post in. Does anyone know if there are any engineering jobs (in general) that are hands on, but also involve technical knowledge? R&D? Most jobs that I have seen (where I work, where my friends...

    Best EIT Review Class/VIdeo/Materials?

I used the FE Review Manual by Lindeburg, as well as the discipline specific review book by Lindeburg as well (EE in my case). I also purchased the formula book for the FE (amazon has it cheaper than NCEES I think) and a Casio FX-115ES calculator. I made sure to purchase the book because I...
