    Mock exam question

I come up with 6.1. Hey Cantaloup, when you get the chance please post your solution.

Need Help Solving This Open-Channel Problem

Thanks so very much for the insight! I avoided the simultaneous equations by using substitution, as shown. One question: not being a civil engineer I tried to use the following equations to find the discharge from the tanks: hf = f(L/D)(v^2/g) where f=(8g)/C^2 Why didn't the above approach...

Need Help Solving This Open-Channel Problem

I've already began studying for the October '09 exam (Civil, Water Resources). I spent about three hours today trying to solve the attached problem, to no avail. Can someone please give me some insight as to how to determine the total discharge "Q" at outlet elevation 120.0 feet? Once I know...

How Brutal Was the April '09 Civil WR Exam?

Thanks for the update. As an aside, were there any books you didn't have that in retrospect you wish you had on hand (I am thinking of Metcalf and Eddy in particular, as I lack a copy)? Also, how was the AM Construction module?

How Brutal Was the April '09 Civil WR Exam?

I've already began studying for the October Water Resources exam. How brutal was the Spring version? How many beers at lunch did it take to get through the PM session?

how much study is adequate? Please help

The PE exam is a crapshoot. I studied 44 hours and passed the Electrical exam in April 2006, but that was stupid. It was one of those situations where I went in praying that the test would have questions that I know, which it did (I love electromagnetics and there wasn't one single Emag...

PDH requirement for PE in Arizona

Vishal is correct. I'm licensed here and there are no continuing education requirements.

    Nice Hydraulics Table Reference Book

Crud, it's something like 350-400 pages in about 8 point font. That's some serious scanning.

    Nice Hydraulics Table Reference Book

I'm gearing up for Round II of the Civil WR exam. I have a nice reference book that I didn't delve into nor took to the exam the first time; but having used it for the past two weeks I've found it to be an excellent reference book and will occupy a place of prominence on my exam desk come...

    Structural I - Pass Rates

It must be a mother of a test...for this past April exam, in the State of Arizona, one person passed. In fact, here's the total count of people who passed the April engineering exam here: Structural = 1 Mechanical = 2 Electrical = 4 Civil = 16 Yep, a total of 23 (!)

Should you take the exam again after you fail

Heck yes! I'm an Electrical PE, and I took the Civil PE exam for shits and giggles this past April. Didn't pass, but I'm already gearing up for the October test. And I'm so old (52), I can use a slide rule...got four of them, in fact! I'd love to whip one out during the exam and watch the...

    Invalidated PE Exam (!!!)

Guys, given the pathetic university graduation rates for engineers in the US, in 20 years from now the PE exam instructions will be issued in Chinese, Japanese, Arabic and Farsi. Anyone who speaks English will sit there, not knowing whether to scratch their watch or wind their ass.

    Invalidated PE Exam (!!!)

OK guys, I was only joking about the "...play the discrimination card" part, but nowadays a good attorney can [unfortunately] work wonders [see "Simpson, OJ"]. Yeah, I figure he's dead in the water. The only saving grace is that Clemson, SC should hope and pray that his father is not some...

    Invalidated PE Exam (!!!)

Yeah, I get this feeling that he's hosed. As a foreign engineer, with English not being his native tongue, maybe he can play the discrimination card...

    Invalidated PE Exam (!!!)

A co-worker took the April 2007 PE exam with me. He never received his results. In fact, he received no notification from either the State Board or NCEES. He called the State Board and was told that his exam was invalidated because he allegedly used an ink pen to fill in the personal...

    Hardy-Cross Network Diagram Convergence

If I am given a set of diagrams for possible solutions to a Hardy-Cross network, and asked which one converges the quickest, how do I approach this problem? Might there be a key I can focus on to solve by inspection?

    ARIZONA - RESULTS

Thanks, Sapper. I estimate that I got 46 out of 80 overall, for a 58%, with a 27/40 in the AM and 19/40 in the PM sessions. I thought I fared better in the PM than what I actually received.

    ARIZONA - RESULTS

Failed to pass muster on the first go-around on the Civil WR exam. Diagnostic: Env = 63% Geo = 63% Str = 63% Trans = 50% WR = 50% Hydraulics = 46% Hydrology = 57% Water Treatment = 50% Env = 40% Geo = 50% No overall fail score included. I have no idea as to how many I got correct...

Nope. If you were deemed eligible to take the exam by the Board of Technical Registration and pass, that's it. HUZZAH!!!

    ARIZONA - RESULTS

SHKitUP: The EE PE license makes the mortgage payment. I did the Water Resources exam just to see if I could pass. If I failed this time, at least I know I CAN pass it as I was not overwhelmed. By the way, I do think it's unfair that EEs make a substantially higher salary than CEs [well, at...
