    PE Exam Exceptional Results

I heard from someone that if you score really high on the PE exam that your state's engineering board could contact you and sometimes even offer you a position on an exam committee. Is there any truth to this? Is there any way you could get an idicator of how well you did on the test?

    Grading Process

What do state boards do with our results after they get them from the NCEES? I am seeing the "Email" and "Website" states already get their PE results. Someone just confirmed that the Alabama board does have our results but they need to "verify" them. 1. Anyone know what this "verification"...

    Can't take the waiting!

It's only been 30 days and it will probably be another 30 before we get our results! I can't take this waiting anymore, is there not an option for rush processing? :D

    PE Exam Problem Grouping

Does anyone know if the PE exam problems will be grouped by topic like the FE was? Like will it be a group of Transmission problems then a group of Measurement problems and so on or is it just scattered all over the place?

    NCEES 519

I tried searching for an existing thread but it kept giving me an error. Does anyone have a more detailed explaination for why the answer is D? The NCEES solution is a two line "single phase full wave rectifier" but I would to get the point where I understand how current is flowing through this...

    DC Motors

In the NCEES Power Exam specifications under "Rotating Machines", only Induction Motors and Synchronous Machines are listed. Does this mean I shouldn't spend a lot of time working DC motor problems?

    Notes in Pencil

I have a habbit of writing notes in my reference books, stuff like: "Good problem, work again" "Use this formula instead V=I.R" "Watch out for unit conversions" "Use formula on page 32-2 instead" "Key to solution is finding internal generator voltage" "*IMPORTANT CONCEPT*" "Torque here is...

PPI Practice Problem (Chapter 36 Problem 6)

This problem is out of the "Distribution" practice set. I can follow along with the solution and I get the same answers but when I try to solve the problem using a formula I got out of Gross's "Power System Analysis" book, I get a different answer. It works for the P part but I get 100 MVAR for...

    Power Electronics Review

I went through the NCEES sample exam and I feel pretty comfortable with most topics except power electronics. I am probably struggling with it since I rarely use it at work. Can anyone think of a decent reference to help me brush up on the topic?

    Sample Test vs Real Test

I've been studying for the April 2011 Power PE exam for the last three weeks now, about 80 hours total, and now I am starting to go through the NCEES sample exam. I'm finding a lot of the NCEES problems pretty straight-forward and even a little basic at times, which is making me worry a little...

    NEC 2008 or 2011

I am planning on taking the Power PE exam in April of 2011 and NESC is releasing a new code book in 2011. Does anyone know if my exam will be based on the 2008 or 2011 version of the NECS?

    PPI Power Review Course

I am looking around for a power review course and I came accross the Power to Pass website. Their courses seem a bit expensive and I was wondering if anyone has taken this review course and what they had thought of it. Is it worth that cost? Pros § They seem to be the publisher of most of the...

    GA Tech Online Review Course

Anyone have any feedback on the GA Tech online power review course? (I saw another old thread about this, but there weren't many replies) We are trying to choose between four options atm: 1. GA Tech Online Review Course for Power Engineering 2. Kaplan Online Review Course for Power...

The Value of a PE Power Review Course

I was wondering what ya'll thought about review courses. I was thinking that just buying the ppi power review package (http://ppi2pass.com/ppi/PPIShop?pr=EPN5&ct=ELECTRICAL) and working problems on my own for a couple of months would be enough. Anyone pass with a review course and just feel...

    Programming Experience

I worked in an IT department as a client/server developer for 2 years following my graduation with an Electrical and Computer Engineering Degree. Some of the experience gained was: 1. Design new software systems. 2. Document and train users on existing systems. 3. Write code to implement...

    Type of Experience

I worked for 2 years as a software engineer, where I designed, reviewed, tested and implemented software projects. I later worked for a utility as an electrical engineer where I designed, reviewed and tested electrical systems. I would like to take the Power PE. Would both my experiences count...

    Experience Verification Nightmare!

I am hoping to sit for the PE in April of 2011 but I am having trouble verifying my experience even though I have over 6 years of engineering experience. Here's a summary of my situation: 1. Graduated in 2005 with a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from an ABET accredited school...
