    Take home exam

I completed the take home exam and returned it with my PE exam application. My exam application was accepted and I took the exam this past October. How do you know if you passed the take home exam? Do they send a pass/fail notice? I never received anything regarding the take home exam. Thanks

    Fault calculation using per unit

I am panicking a little bit since I thought I had this down and now I'm confused on some basic concepts. On the link shown in the example attached, a generator feeds a motor and then there is a fault at the motor terminals. The solution shows the impedance of the motor, 0.2 pu, being converted...

Power factor correction and I^2 R losses

I'm having a disagreement with a fellow engineer regarding power factor correction and line losses. I feel I am right, but I'm getting tripped up over something he is stating that he says proves me wrong. I believe that improving the power factor of a system can reduce the loss in the feeder...

    Battery characteristics and ratings

Can anyone recommend a reference (hard copy of web site) that is good for this topic of battery characteristics and ratings? The sample question 124 in the sample power NCEES exam seems to be a "you know it or you don't" type question. Not having any practical experience with batteries, I'm...

    NCEES 116

I'm missing a basic concept about magnetic flux. On the NCEES sample question 116, I don't understand the answer. Can someone help explain this problem. I couldn't find a similar problem in my Schaums outline. This is obviously a weak area of mine.

Question on topic in Chelapati book

Ok I'm starting to go through the Chelapati book and stuck on a formula given. In discussing how to represent a simple load with a resistance and reactance in series, the formula for Rs is given as Rs = (V^2 cos theta)/S. Cosine theta is in the numerator. I could just accept this formula, but...

    Transmission Lines

I am planning on taking the Electrical Power exam this October (2010). I have been out of school for over 15 years. My degree is in electrical engineering, but I didn't have any emphasis in power classes except for the standard electromagnetic, electric machines and circuit analysis classes...

    Casio fx-115 ES Complex Numbers

I bought a Casio FX-115 ES a while ago and i'm now trying to get familiar with it. I'm using complex number mode and seem to be able to do operations on complex numbers in both cartesian and polar form. However I get an error when I type this expression (exactly) (-60<10)/(-2+.011667i-...
