I am thoroughly confused by this. I took the SE as my licensing exam so I wouldn't have to take the civil/structural since I practice only structural. I am in Texas where we do not recognize the SE so now I am a licensed PE here. Doesn't that mean I am a PE when I go to apply for other states...
I personally did not take a review course, but I had two close structural friends who each took the school of PE review course. Both of them were sitting for both the lateral and vertical portions of the exam so they had class 6 nights a week. When I asked them about the course, both had more...
If you have already taken and passed the new SE like the OP has said and I have, don't you just have to send over your application and fee for commity? I thought that was the whole point of the new test, to make it where the requirements for the SE were the same across the board.
Texas doesn't...
well crap, that didn't show up like I thought it would. The link on the NCEES site for the workshop data is http://www.ncees.org/About_NCEES/Events/Event_Pages/Structural_Scoring_Workshop.php

The NCEES Structural Engineering Exam Development Committee will meet in Clemson, South...
I have had the same type of question for the Lateral afternoon problem 801. They ask for the design loads, when I designed the wall it was obvious that the controlling wind load on the parapet was the load from the windward side, so I did not calculate the leeward as it obviously did not...
I saw his reference as well, I just didn't see anywhere in the SDPWS that says you can neglect the gravity loads above. I think that I was getting confused by section 4.3.6.4.2 that implies if you have enough of a resisting moment that the tie downs are not necessary. I just found the NCEES...
I'll give this a go...
The answer should most nearly be 4'-0". Finding e=1.6Mp/Vp. Let me know if this is way off base. I haven't looked much at the EBF systems yet.
I hate to bring up an old thread, but my question is right down this alley.
Is anyone else a little distraught over the SERM 6th and it sounding like it is the authority on how these items should be done. I began here for the lateral load portion of my studying as it seems to roll all of the...
