    New P.E.

I took the same course and depth as you and felt exactly the same during the exam. So glad to learn that I passed.

New Mechanical PE specifications for the April 2017 exams

FYI. The exam specs for all three ME depths are changing in 2017. It appears as though the common ME breadth topics have been removed and its essentially one depth exam for each area of expertise. http://ncees.org/engineering/pe/

    October 2016 exam

I found the Thermal and Fluid Systems exam to be much more difficult than I expected. The AM section was not bad and I felt great afterwards. However, the PM section covered a lot of topics that I have never seen before and some topics that were not even mentioned in the MERM. I put several...

    Sensible heat load calculation

Thanks I used the index too but missed the last sentence where it shows the 1.08 factor. However, I found it in 11 seconds, not 10. Always room for improvement

    NCEES 2011 Problem 129

The question is asking for quality of the steam. This should be your hint that it is saturated steam being withdrawn.  The second equation is the equation for enthalpy of saturated steam that takes into account the quality of the steam. i.e.:  h=hf+x(hfg) The key to this problem is that the...

    Sensible heat load calculation

I'm having trouble locating the equation for sensible heat load within the MERM qs=(1.08)(cfm)(dt) I've seen this come up in a couple practice problems and would like to see how it's more or less derived but the MERM doesn't seem to mention it.

    Static Temperature vs Total temperature

Good question. I think that the Static temperature is generally assumed to be a state prior to compression/flow of the fluid. In 25.9, the temperature asked for seems to be dynamic temperature. The sum of the dynamic and static temperatures is the definition total temperature.

    Interpretation of CBT Diagnostic Report

I found it to be easy the second time. But I also found it to be easy the first time around. The only difference being that I was overly confident on the first go. If you think you've practiced enough problems, do more problems. That's basically what I did up until the day before....many...

    Pennsylvania PE experience requirements

I think I've found the answer to my question. PA requires 4 years post-FE experience. Bummer.

    Pennsylvania PE experience requirements

I am having trouble finding solid information on the experience requirements for Pennsylvania and registering for the PE. The application isnt very clear. My situation: -Graduated in 2009 -Began accumulating engineering experience in 2009, most of which has been under a PE -Got into...

    Interpretation of CBT Diagnostic Report

To follow up, I passed after my second attempt. My strategy was just doing more problems than I did when studying for the first attempt. It'd be nice to know how I did quantitatively, but I'm just glad it's behind me. Good luck to everyone taking this.
