My study tips for FE: Chemical afternoon

H2O, you are not alone: if you check the NCEES website for the October results, you will see that Chemical Engineers' pass rate is 81%, but if they take General PM, it's only 60%. Go for the Chemical PM next time Another advice: take as many mock exams as possible, repeat some of them...

My study tips for FE: Chemical afternoon

Thanks, all! Yes, they are on my APEGA member web-site, under exam status. Did not get an official letter yet. Congratulations to all who passed and my encouragement to those who will have to attempt it again.

    I passed.

How did you do i FE October 2012?

Another thing that may help deciding on what PM module to take is to try to predict your score in a Discipline-specific versus General PM. For this, multiply the topic percentage specified by NCEES (e.g., 10% for Chemistry for Chemical PM) by your expected score (e.g., 0.75 or 0.5 or 0.25 or...

How did you do i FE October 2012?

I was very satisfied with the chemical afternoon. Did not know how to do only three problems (one really did not know, and two more were from the field which I deliberately did not review at all). This does not mean that I managed all other problems perfectly, but at least I always knew what I...

How did you do i FE October 2012?

Well, I guess the confidentiality agreement works well and people are reluctant to share their experience. From my side, being 15 years out of school, I can only say that my preparation materials prepared me quite well and I can name only a couple of completely unrecognizable problems during the...

My study tips for FE: Chemical afternoon

As the exam day is approaching, I decided to post my advice on Chemical Afternoon FE preparation. There are some great posts on this board on the morning and general afternoon, and fabulous study tips for Chemical PE, but I did not find much for the FE Chemical PM. Maybe, someone will find my...

    October 2012

I am in a different boat: I am preparing for FE (graduated 15 years ago). Honestly, I am already sick and tired of the preparation (I started in March) and I just want it to be over. After having finished studies/reviews, I did several practice exams and the NCEES exam twice. I am brushing up...

FE / Other Disciplines Exam Question

I did not take the real exam yet, the controls part was in a practice exam. As "controls" is not specified by NCEESS, I do not study it. I believe the practice exam was "wrong" in that way and misleading.

FE / Other Disciplines Exam Question

    I meant 49 "Measurement" and 50 "Controls".

FE / Other Disciplines Exam Question

I did not take the exam yet but I still reviewed "Measurement" because it includes sensors (they are listed in NCEES "Other" PM specifications under "Electricity") and Wheatstone bridge which I saw in one of the practice AM exams in the Electrical part. When I took practice AM exam from...

FE sample exams avarage scores PPI

Wael, not sure if this helps, but for myself I noticed that if I split a mock exam over 2 sessions, I always get 5-10% higher scores because it is easy for me to stay concentrated for 2 - 2.5 hours. If I go in one session, after 3 hrs I feel like "whatever" and do not solve the problems as well...

Formulas: What Page in the FE Reference Handbook

What are you going to find with this formula (units)? Squared tangential velocity divided by radius is actually just a normal acceleration (page 56, left column).

    Degrees vs. Radians

I am not an electrical engineer and please take this with a grain of salt. Radians have no units, as they are length-to-length ratio, so basically working out the units should help to figure out what to use. A good example from math: circular segment area is A=[r^2(Angle-sin(Angle)]/2, and one...

    Calculator cover (lid)?

Do we get to keep the calculator lid during the exam? Mine (Casio fx-115 es) has some useful info on how to use the calculator on the lid (unit conversions and some constants).
