    I just got a response from the administrator of the test in Maryland, who said that the "no pencil mark" rule used to be the case, up through the last exam this past October. But that rule now no longer applies.

    I understand the concept of the generated voltage, voltage drop within the machine, and the resulting line voltage. I just don't understand why the PF angle given for the current is given with respect to the generated voltage, and not the line voltage.

    I'm taking the exam for the first time in April, so this is my ramping up time :) Is it correct to say that current and impedance have opposite polarities, so the current to a capacitive load has a positive angle with respect to voltage, and the impedance is negative?

    iahim, are you sure about your last statement? My understanding is that a leading power factor (capacitive) has a positive power factor angle when expressed in polar form, and a positive imaginary component when expressed in rectangular form.
