    NCEES 530 (Calculate %Z)

Thanks Flyer PE!!! I get the PU Method now. In my error above they simplified the problem by directly giving us the SC of the system as 40MVA . Therefore the TX SC is (25MVA) and the system SC is (40MVA). It all works out now. Couldn't find this problem using the search function.

    NCEES 530 (Calculate %Z)

    I am attempting to solve this problem by the MVA method where... SC TX= 1MVA/4%= 25MVA SC Sys= 40MVA/4%= 1000MVA SC Tot= (In Parallel) so answer is about 24.4MVA Ssc= 24.4MVA/ (sqrt3*480)= 29,348A. ????? NCEES Answer 18,500.

    NCEES 530 (Calculate %Z)

For this problem how is the percent z value calculated for the 40MVA system (Assuming the 1MVA Base)? The problem has .025 for the system impedance.

Short Circuit Question (NCEES vs Complex Imaginary Test 1-#

Is the impedance of a TX correlated to the applied voltage for the short circuit? On Question 539 TX has 10% impedance & (100/7.2KV) and the factory short circuit test the applied KV to get rated current the answer is 10KV. (100KV * 10%) On complex imaginary TX has 5% impedance &amp...

Illinois PE Exam Materials Allowed in Test (HELP!)

A friend of mines took the test in OCT 11 (Elec-Pwr) and he informed me that they proctors did not take any 3-Ring Binders from anyone as long as all the papers were bounded. They did take the NCEES practice booklet and Schaum's book from ppl though. Hope that helps. I plan to bring my binder...

    Spin-Up Sample Exam Problems Discussion

Back to question 2-65 the question asks for load factor. My formula for this is LF=(Avg Load)/(Peak Load). But the answer provided is a formula for capacity factor. CF= (Avg Load for a period)/(Output Capacity of Plant). This is according to my reference book. Aren't these two things...
