    NCEES problem #530

    The solution to this problem by NCEES is getting me confused.......I think for this type of problems the height of the wall is what governs what formula to use, this problem states that the height of the wall is 9' so we should apply the short formula. Even though the book gives the correct...

    I don't have the book with me that I can check for the problem, but try to use the 2:1 method for a group of piles to see if works close to the answer.....I hope this helps.
