Has anyone who recieved PASS letters for both Seismic and Surveying and still doesn't show up in the database found anything out yet? I talked to the board yesterday and they said I should get a letter with my number on it some time next week. They still didn't know what the number is and I am still (as of a few minutes ago) not on the database.

Trev, thanks for checking with the board. I think I'm going to go with the Licensed Professional Engineer title. I think it has more meaning for non engineers that don't understand the significance of the Professional Engineer title. I don't like the Registered Professional Engineer title because it sounds like you just put your name on a list (like sending in a registration card). The licensed title better indicates that you have been given authority to practice engineering.
lando, I see your point and I like your logic but I am looking around here at work (a City) and everyone, without exception, has 'Registered Professional Engineer'. I also checked our scanned plans prepared by private developers and the first 10+ all read ' R P E'. I even check the ACAD block library I took with me from the private firm I worked for - every engineer has 'R P E'. I think I'll play it safe and stick with the majority on this one.
An FYI. Just received my stamp from engineerseals.com. I had selected "Professional Engineer" and had only put the 5 digits for the license number. The stamp I received says "Registered Professional Engineer" and they had added the "E" with a space and then the license number. It looks like they may change it for you to fit common convention. Not sure if they do it for everyone, but it is what happened on mine, and I'm fine with it now that I have seen the posts above.
I had the same problem. Stamp came today with the unrequested "registered" on it. Annoying but I'm not going to hassle them over it. In my case it's going to be nothing but a fancy desk ornament anyway.
</div><div class="quote">Maybe the reason the majority has the R P E format is because they all bought their stamps at engineerseals.com and that company is too cheap to customize the formats.</div>

Weird, I actually got a Seismic pass letter yesterday (Jan 5th). The first letter I received was on Dec 31 stating I passed all exams and am now a PE. I just assumed the first letter was the only letter I'd get. (I was down to only the Seismic).

I just checked the license lookup. The number of CEs in now 79512. I'm still not there. I'm going to check the mail to see if I received my seismic and/or surveying pass/fail letters, yet.

Which type are you guys going with? The thing about the pre-inked is it says not suitable for non-porous surfaces. Does this mean we can't use them to stamp mylar?
I dislike pre-inked stamps in general because it's usually a pain to find a replacement cartridge when the ink runs dry so I'm getting a regular stamp. But I work for the government so I won't be using my stamp anytime soon. The pre-inked would probably be more useful if I stamped drawings often.
Anyone know how well (or poorly) the pre-inked stamps work on mylar?

By the way, I think you only add ink to the pre-inked stamps, not replace a cartridge. And they're good for 1,000s of stampings. My co-worker said he has had his for 20 years and it still works fine.

I just checked my mail. No seismic or surveying pass/fail letters. And, as I said previously, I'm still not on the CA Board license database - even after the January 6 update. Now, I know that means I probably failed one of the state exams, but the funny thing is no one with my same (common) last name has been updated on the board license database since the October 2011 exams. What are the odds of that? I'm calling the board on Monday if I don't receive my results in the mail.

That's pretty peculiar. Let us know what you find out.

Are the numbers assigned for new engineers in a linear fashion? If so, it seems that the new electrical Professional Engineers are in the group 19788 - 19944 (taken from expiration dates - not exhaustively). If taking that group as a given, is there any rhyme or reason as to why a certain number is assigned to a certain individual?

Passed Oct 2011 test in EE (Power), first try, no studying (going for baseline). Last college course in EE (not Power - concentrated in Communications and Controls) was in Spring 1981. Spent two decades as a power technician.

Congrats! It felt like the power exam had more experience and code related questions than calculation dependent questions. Your twenty years of power experience was probably much more helpful than the typical BSEE. I don't think I would have passed if I hadn't worked on certain projects over the past couple of years that exposed me to various code requirements.

Looks like the new Civil PE numbers are up to 79521. Mine is finally in there! Hopefully all the rest of you waiting for a number are in that additional few numbers recently posted.

Congrats jb! That's a rough ride you had to go through. I'm not sure I'd still have my sanity if I had to go through that!

My wife called me at work to say a large envelope from the board was delivered today. She didn't open it but we assume it's my certificate (I'm in So Cal, just north of San Diego). Exciting....

I received my certificate too. Does anybody know how or when we'll be able to pay our 'renew' fee?

My cert showed up Thurs Jan 12 and my stamp showed up today Fri 13 (hey, it's Friday the 13th!). The stamp looks good and came just how I ordered it. :)

I got my certificate on Wednesday, Jan 11. Unfortunately, since none of the engineers in my office display their credentials, I stuffed it in my file drawer along with my Bachelor degree.
