Transformer Testing (Short Circuit and Open Circuit)

Trying to get a better grasp of how these tests are done. Am I right in the below?

Short Circuit Testing

• Short the Low Voltage side and measure current in the High Voltage side because current is usually lower there.
• Very small V_sc is applied and turned up until I_rated is measured
• Can get Z% from Vsc/Vrated
• Copper Losses

Open Circuit Testing

• Leave the Low Voltage side open and measure on the High Voltage side
• Current measured is the current in the core
• Can get core resistance values from this test
• Core losses
